The Cahaba River Tree Trail is a 3/4 mile educational hiking trail located at 4650 Riverbend Road in Trussville, AL 35173. If you are already on the trail and our QR codes brought you to this web page, welcome to the Cahaba River Tree Trail. This trail was a Friends of Pinchgut Creek project made possible with support from Alabama Scenic River Trail and The Cahaba River Society

The trees on this trail are part of a very important type of forest called a ‘Riparian’ forest. Riparian forests are the wooded areas next to rivers and streams. These forests help to protect waterways, and their inhabitants, by lowering water temperatures, reducing sediment, and stabilizing stream banks. This riparian forest helps to protect part of the headwaters of the Cahaba River, one of the most biologically diverse waterways in the world. This trail is a celebration of beautiful trees and of our amazing river.

We hope you enjoy this 3/4 mile hike. There are 22 signed trees on this hike. Each sign has a QR code that will direct you to a web page with interesting tree facts and identification features. While you are hiking this trail, we hope you take the time to appreciate the crystal clear waters and towering trees that make this forest a spectacular retreat in the middle of town. If you capture any great pictures while hiking the tree trail, please email those to cahabatrees@outlook.com or send them to us on social media @friendsofpinchgutcreek
